Who We Are
At Aloha Recycling we keep it simple: recycle right, treat people well, and do good for the island.
We’ve been part of the Maui community since 1993, starting as a small, family-run scrap yard founded by Tom Reed. Back then, it was mostly just grit, hard work, and a lot of trial and error. But the mission was clear from the beginning – give people a way to recycle locally, earn a little cash doing it, and help take care of the land while we’re at it.
In 2020, Tom’s son Todd Reed officially took over operations, and under his leadership, the company grew from a single location into four centers island-wide. While the business has grown, the heart of it hasn’t changed. We’re still a locally owned, locally operated recycling center built around trust, service, and a commitment to our island home.
Today, Aloha Recycling operates Maui’s largest certified redemption center for HI-5 beverage containers. We’ve redeemed over 4,400 tons of recyclable materials in 2024 alone — that’s a lot of cans and bottles kept out of the landfill. We also contract with the County of Maui to operate residential recycling centers and provide crucial processing services for cardboard, glass, and plastic collected across the island.
But numbers only tell part of the story. The people who drive up in their cars, drop off their sorted recyclables, and count on us to get it right — that’s who we’re here for.
Our staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. We believe in straight answers, fair service, and never turning anyone away. Our bins aren’t full. We stay open during lunch. We pay cash. And we treat people with aloha, because that’s just how it should be.
Mahalo for recycling with us,
